Fertility Yoga - 30 Day Meditation Challenge

I received a lot of response to my last post about the Fertility Yoga
I'm working on, and also about the meditation practice Not only was
I really excited to see everyone respond so fast, but it also inspired
me to turn my meditation into a challenge. (leave it to me to turn
something as pure as meditation into a contest!)

I'm calling it the 30 Day Meditation Challenge, starting Tuesday
April 6th, all those who would like to participate will meditate for
10 min each day, for 30 days. At the end of 30 days I will give each
and every person who made it to the end a little prize!!! This contest
will have to be based on the honor system, if at the end of 30 days
you meditated everyday, let me know and the prize is YOURS! Just
remember though, its bad karma to lie :)

On another note, Jelly Belly asked me what Asana's I will be doing
to rejuvenate my cycle. In response to this I promise to keep good
notes here on my blog so those of you who would like to also do
these Asana's can follow along, or at least look back at these posts
when that time of your cycle comes around.

Thats it for Today, Happy Easter for those of you who celebrate, and
I look forward to Meditating with you on Tuesday morning!!  Please
let me know if you would like to participate, we can use each other for
support! Also if you need any advice on meditation please feel free to
ask!

  1. I am so in. I was so inspired by you, so starting on Friday, I have tried to meditate for 5 minutes every morning, and I'll increase it to 10 minutes starting tomorrow! But here's the problem - I get so distracted. I sit there, and try to be quiet and focus on my breath, but is there something I can do to shut off the mind? Now keep in mind that I have never done this before, so I don't know what the heck I'm doing, so I would love to have some pointers for beginners!

  2. I am so happy to hear that you have meditated since friday!!! I think this month is really going to help us all out! As far as your question, how do you quiet the mind.....you don't :), no pressure! all you need to do is focus on your breath (which is your anchor) and just be passively aware of your thoughts. Our minds a little too curious to STOP thinking, so just be aware that your thinking, but don't really linger on a thought, just notice your thinking and try again to focus on your breath. There is a quote in my meditation book that says "you can't stop the birds flying overhead, but you can stop them nesting in your hair". I thought that was pretty funny, cause were all going to think, we just need to let those thoughts stream by. You can start the meditation with a couple of sighs, I find that helps me a bit to get into the groove :) Eventually, with practice you will get better at having these thoughts without paying too much attention to them. So happy your joining us!!
